7 Digital High Definition Demonstration…

If you are not familiar with digital television, or you may only have a Standard Definition tuner, you may not be aware of what Channel Seven shows on its High Definition Channel 70. When there is no High Definition program on during the day (11:00am – 4:30pm), Channel 70 shows a High Definition loop which runs for about 15 minutes, and I could be wrong but going by the copyright at the end it has been running since 2004. This is the same loop you may see in television stores like Harvey Norman etc… when they have about twenty TV’s on display. SBS, ABC, Channel’s Nine and Ten just run a sim cast of what is on their normal analogue and standard definition channel’s.

The demonstration starts off in Sydney looking over the harbour and the typical Sydney landmarks.

The loop then continues now with the more scenic parts taken from The Great Outdoors and the first is in the Snow of the Alpsof Aspen in the US, with Shelly and Tom.

Next are some scenic views of what seams to be a volcano in New Zealand, from the safety of a helicopter.

The mood then changes to a tropical setting.

Next the scene changes to personally my favourite place I wish to visit Dubai.

It’s now off to Germany with Shelly checking out a whole lot of Porsche cars.

The presentation then shows some images of a flyover of an island, planes landing and taking off from an airport and a carnival ride.

Finally my favourite part of the presentation, I say this because watching it gives you (or maybe just me) a great buzz looking at the images and with the ‘inspirational’ music playing in the background.

Firstly its Melbourne coming out of the Telstra Dome or as it was known when it was filmed Colonial Stadium, zooming out and rotating around to get a complete view of the city at night. Melbourne viewers of Seven News may also notice that this shot was used sometimes in the News opener.

Secondly it’s a very up-beat presentation of Sydney, quite different from the images seen at the start of the loop, this time the city is viewed at night and the focus is more on its buildings rather than the harbour.

  1. I was wondering whether anyone knew if the soundtrack of the loop was available to buy or download? I am most interested in the music at the begining and end of the loop. Alternatively, someone might know the name of the songs and the artists

    Thanks

  2. Am I the only one that wants Seven to do what Channel 9 and every other HD channel on Earth does and show us actual, watchable programs instead of the loop? Channel 9 have worked out that people will watch ‘upconverted’ SD programs before something like that Great Outdoors montage. Switching favourites lists on the HD plasma every time Channel 7 wants to run that loop is getting old. We know what HD programming looks like at this point!

  3. hi! i wanted to know if anyone knew what songs or the soundtrack used in the presentation thanxx

  4. When I get some time, I might see if i can make some decent recordings of the music used, and will post it on here in a new post.

  5. heyy whenever i try to listen to the music used in the seven digital presentation it says there is an error in the file please make it work i’m dying to listen to it! thankyou =]

  6. I too would love to know the track listing or soundtrack name. The music is inspirational.
