Pre-order True Blood Season 1

My Night At Rove…

Sunday 30th September 2007, I was lucky enough to be in the audience of Rove which is filmed at the old Channel Seven studio’s in South Melbourne, now controlled by Global Television.

This particular episode was not live although the majority are live, apparently the reason was because of Australian Idol, but I don’t see how that can affect it. The original time the audience had to be present was at 7:15pm however because of the early recording of the show this was changed to 5:15pm.

The audience is then required to line up outside and then a hidden gate is opened up and everyone is then asked to take all their belongings out for security to search while they run the metal detector over each individual.

After that process is over everyone then is able to help themselves to a Red Bull (my theory is to make the audience hypo) and then everyone is to wait in a restaurant marque room kind of area.

Now you will have to excuse me for a minute because I am about to complain about people in general because this really really annoys me. When you are asked to be somewhere at a certain time, why is it that in every group of people someone is always late? 5:15pm is the time everyone was meant to be there, that is the time we go in and everyone should be  present, this is not the time you leave your home. Then to make matters worse, every second person needed to use the toilet when there are only two toilets in the whole complex. Go to the toilet before you come to the show! Because of all of this we were sitting and waiting in that room for an hour and a half.

So that is the end of that complaint…

So after all that was over we went though a passageway where we walked around a corner and came in the back of the studio where the bands set-up to play at the end of the show. The audience then all took their seats and one of the producers came out with all the usual jokes you hear at these recordings.

Then Rove came out and spoke to us all for about 10 minutes and then Pete also came out to have a chat as well, then Pete went back stage while Rove stayed out to record the promo used during one of the ad breaks for Australian Idol, which the audience couldn’t hear because we are told to clap and cheer over the top.

Then soon enough the show started with Rove’s opening jokes for the show and the rest you could see on telly…

The show was recorded as if it was live so the breaks were only about two minutes long, and to ad to my complaining I just didn’t understand the presence of the security although there were only about four of them, the way they were standing infront of us all it was like they were expecting us to raid the stage and run a riot. But other than that it was a great experience and one of the best shows of the year especially with Silverchair playing that night it was great.
