Election Coverage 2007: Seven’s Your Call 07′…

Seven’s election coverage started at 8:00am this morning with a special edition of weekend sunrise from Martin Place in Sydney (as per usual).

There was a live cross to Prime Minister John Howard’s seat of Bennelong to get an idea of the voter turn out, with voters quing up well before the polling booths had opened.

Both leaders had an opportunity to speak for the last time starting with Prime Minister John Howard…

Kochie and Mel also gave a behind the scenes tour of their set for the night and the election tally board…

4:30 was a special national edition of Seven’s 4:30 news presented by Jennifer Keyte from Melbourne.

Jennifer was joined by reporters from around the country in key election areas, firstly Chris Reason was in the seat of Bennelong, Anna Corren at Labor Headquarters at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, Nick McCallum was down in Devonport, Geoff Parry in Perth and Damien Smith in the National Tally room in Canberra.

The official election coverage ‘Your Call 07′ started at 5:30pm from the National Tally Room live in Canberra with Sunrise hosts David Koch and Melissa Doyle.

Joining Mel and Kochie at the desk for Seven’s coverage was former Queensland Premier Peter Beatie and former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett.

The team were also joined by Andrew O’Keefe who was also joined by Barnaby Joyce and Mark Arbib.

The seven coverage tries to take a light hearted look at the at the election with David Koch showing viewers a behind the scene’s look at how the large tally board works similar to this morning’s Weekend Sunrise.

Seven’s ‘Tower of Power’ shows the Eureka Tower in Melbourne the tallest residential building in the world and how many seats have gone to the Coalition and how many have gone to Labor at this point in time.

Looking at the seat of Bennelong and it shows that John Howard has lost his seat to Maxine McKew.

Political reporter for the Seven Network Mark Riely shows viewers the seats that Labor has gained, in what the network has called a ‘Ruddslide’.

Malcolm Turnbull won his seat of Wentworth in an unusual circumstance compared to the rest of the country where be gained a swing towards the Liberal Party is seen here giving his victory speech.

Waiting for John Howard to concede defeat and present himself in front of the Liberal Party faithful at Sydney’s Wentworth Hotel.

Before John Howard gives his speech it was time for Peter Costello to claim victory in his seat, with the graphic say that John Howard is on his way having left Kirribilli House.

Then it was time for the out going Prime Minister to give his speech of defeat.
