Monster House…
Tonight was the series premier of the Nine Network’s new reality comedy Monster House. I was present at the very first recording of Monster House which can be read about here, and from watching tonight’s episode it was very highly edited and I can show you where.
But first, what is Monster House? It is pretty much Thank God You’re Here meets Surprise Surprise Gotcha with a bit of Big Brother. Unsuspecting participants will enter the Webb’s family home or business to provide them with a service, but what they don’t realise is that they are in for a nasty surprise when they have been set-up.
The show that went to air tonight was not the full show I was present for when I went in the audience. The only scenario they showed which I saw on the night was when the investment banker Chris entered the house. Seeing the show on air now I can see some of the tweeks that were made to the show. Firstly what was seen tonight with the in studio conversations with the Webb family were a lot shorter than what they were originally when filmed, which is great for the show as they slowed it down. For the first episode they either recorded a whole new opening or they switched them around with another episode as Bernard Curry made a very lame Michael Jackson joke which did not air, and when Rebel Wilson made the is it hot in here or is it just you Bernard remark, in the recording he replied something along the lines of is that referring to my last name (hot = curry).
It is also blatantly obvious at the editing as you can see below the Webb family have had a sudden magical changing of their clothing.
At the end of the day there is no way that this show is going to last, however credit cannot be taken away from Bernard Curry who while at the recording appeared to be nervous he seemed to come off on camera really well in the hosting role.
Monster House is on the Nine Network 7:30pm Tuesday’s.
