Australia Says Sorry…
Today was a historic occasion for Australia with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd saying sorry to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders for the Stolen Generations. To mark this occasion all five television networks broadcasted the speech live around the country using the same feed provided by the ABC.
The ABC1 coverage started at 9am with Tony Jones as host with Miriam Corowa joining him.
SBS has devoted the whole day to Aboriginal programming and also showed the live telecast in a special edition of World News Australia with Anton Enus.
The Seven Network extended Sunrise to cater to the event.
The Nine Network’s coverage was similar to that of Seven where by the Today show was extended to cover the apology.
Network Ten’s coverage was during 9am With David & Kim and they were joined by Paul Bongiorno for his expert opinion.

Actually Seven and Ten had it on a 1 hour delay in QLD (and probably delayed in other non AEDT states).

Evan that’s not right, because Seven had it live around Australia on Sunrise no matter where you are.

No, Jeff. They delay their live shows because we don’t have Daylight Savings here. They delay it by an hour so that when they say “…it’s coming up to eight o’clock…” it actually is coming up to eight o’clock.

No Nicko - they had it live across the nation just for Wednesday.
