Sam Newman Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer…
Tonight it was revealed in a Tony Jones exclusive report for National Nine News that Nine Network identity Same Newman has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Newman who is 62 years of age is best known for his antics on the AFL version of the Footy Show went under the knife this morning in Melbourne, keeping his illness a secret until today.

Close friend and former Footy Show colleague Eddie McGuire was with Newman this morning before he went under the knife, saying that the former Geelong football great is incredibly brave and it is unlikely that he will return to the Footy Show for at least the first couple of weeks. McGuire also stated that Newman is keen to be back for the first show which is scheduled to start in two weeks time, however it has been advised that he should not.
The full story behind Newman’s shock illness will be shown in a special report on Sunday night with the return of Nine’s flagship current affairs program 60 Minutes. It is obvious that the announcement of Newman’s illness has sent shockwave’s through the Nine Network with Peter Hichener wishing his mate all the best at the end of tonight’s National Nine News bulletin.
