Underbelly: May 8 On DVD, Victoria To “Miss Out”…
Underbelly is coming to a DVD store near you on May 8, however a small little sticker will try to place fear into anyone who tries to sell, view or exhibit the gangland drama series in Victoria.
The DVD’s official title is Underbelly: Uncut and will not be available for sale over the Internet with retailers restricted to only selling the series within stores to stop potential sales over the border. The DVD box set release will be accompanied by a sticker stating “not for sale, distribution or exhibition in Victoria”, but will this really stop people from buying the series?
Already from the get go Underbelly has been circulated around Melbourne’s weekly markets with people being able to purchase the entire series before it has even gone to air anywhere in the country for as little as $20.
With the legitimate release of the series on May 8 what is to stop Victorian’s crossing the border to make a little purchase. It would be no surprise to see the sales figures of retail DVD shops in towns such as Albury right on the Victorian/New South Wales border to boom.
At the time of this being published it is very difficult to find any information about the release of the series over the Internet, usually retailers such as Ezy DVD, Sanity and JB-HI-FI have a list of up coming DVD releases for the month ahead with no mention of Underbelly for May 8th. The only sign is within the latest Dick Smith Electronics Power House catalogue which has the drama listed as an up-coming release for May 8.
Come May 8, it will present even more evidence that banning digital media in this day and age just will never work.

Its a bit hypercritical to allow the series to air all around Australia and not allow it to be seen in Victoria, where it all took place. They should have delayed broadcasting the series until after the court cases finished. They cannot possibly believe that the Victorian’s have not seen the TV series because they have beent told not to. The Victorian’s have probably seen the whole series before the rest of Australia did. Really riduculous.

I am absolutely busting to see Underbelly. I as a Victorian hear all the hype surrounding the program. So much for being a free country. Does this ridiculous looking ABC watching judge believe that she has the right to tell me I dont know the difference between reality and a TV program that is not entirely based on fact.
The trials related to Underbelly are well and truely stuffed now, because of some ugly judge’s attempt at trying to stop Victorians watching the show…… News for you Judge Spinster, IT SIMPLY MAKES PEOPLE MORE DETERMINED TO WATCH!!!!!!

How ironic that with the banning of the DVD being sold in Victoria, it will be left to the criminal underworld to provide the state with copies of this gripping DVD!
