Indian Premier League…
The highly anticipated Indian Premier League in all of its glitz and glamour started last night, and if you are an Owl and love your cricket, you might want to consider staying up late at night to watch the live broadcast from India.
The IPL is on Network Ten with some games also on TEN HD, with the coverage hosted back in Australia by AFL commentator Anthony Hudson, who is joined by NSW player Brad Haddin and also Brad Campbell.
Game one was played between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers from Bangalore, with the respective captain’s being Saurar Ganguly and Rahul Dravid.
I was amazed when watching this late last night that Ten have managed to gather sponsors for the telecast, you would expect for something to be on that late at night no one would go near it, however Sony, McDonalds and Harvey Norman seem to be the key organisations backing the event.
Yes those are cheerleaders you see above, just a small part of the glitz and glamour I was alluding to before. My expectations from a network graphical point of view in the presentation was that it would have to be very ‘loud’ and in your face looking because of the fast passed nature of the game. That is exactly what we got, however having said that many people would think that the description I just gave means that they are awful, quite the opposite. The graphical presentation was perfect and actually looked quite nice which makes the viewing experience a lot more enjoyable in my opinion.
For those of you who want to catch all the IPL action but do not want to stay up late at night, I recommend that you tune in Sunday night as the telecast starts at 9:40pm straight after Rove, a nice early start compared with the games shown during the week.
Indian Premier League is on Network Ten and TEN HD most night’s, “check your local guides” (I’ve always wanted to say that).

Did anyone else notice this, does the colouring of the video feed coming from India just look wrong…… Too White or Too Yellow? Didnt 10 advertise that the series was going to be in High Def….. Cause it DEFINATELY isnt!! I have a HD tv and it looks terrible.
Apart from that the telecast wasnt too bad…. Its a shame 10 didnt send anyone over there tho…. Instead relying on the host broadcaster, and doing everything from here….. Cheaper i guess, maybe next year they will spend some more money and send someone.
