The New Look Special Broadcasting Service…
Wednesday is a strange day for this, but SBS has had a re-launch of its identity today, with a new logo and new on air presentation. From the first signs of the new look its is looking fantastic, a vast improvement on what the public broadcaster was offering previously, and dare I say it even better presentation than what the ABC is currently dishing up.
It is very classy and from watching it you do feel like you are in fact watching the ABC, it just has the feel about it. At first I thought that every day had its own identity with a different colour, as it started out Thursday’s had red, Friday’s had purple, Saturday Pink, Sunday Blue. However it seems that this is not the case it is just a random allocation of colour but still looks impressive all the same.
It is not an easy task having to watch SBS all day to bring you this new look, especially in the morning when all the foreign news services are on and not having a clue what is being said. But with the new look it actually got me excited and wanting to see what was in-store next. Have a look through the gallery of images below as well as at the very bottom some videos, especially the second one where there is a movie intro and classification screen.
There is also a new slogan “Six Billion Stories and Counting”.
As always with new posts, you are able to click on images to view a larger size, I only request that if using the images for website purposes (which is fine) please link back to the appropriate post, I don’t want to have to start watermarking images, more work for me, less quality for you. Thank you and enjoy the new look from SBS.
Thursday night has been themed “Crime Thursday” with the shows Stockinger and Inspector Rex.
Friday night with a purple theme starting with Geisha Girls and then Deadly Battles of World War I.
Saturday night programing with a Pink theme starting with Big Love, RockWiz, and My Wife is an Actress.
Sunday night’s promo and line-up of programs with the final episode of Life Under Napoleon, and Everest: Doctors in the Death Zone.
Also on Sunday in a seperate promo on its own, Dresden the Inferno.
One of SBS’ top performing programs Top Gear.
Tonight (Wednesday) Policing the Pacific.
Tonight once again… Food Safari.
Something a little different for Dateline.
New show Salam Cafe…
This promo for Skins shows that SBS has not restricted itself to the same format for everything and that a bit of variety can be added.
A few of the different colour end screens after promo’s and comercials have finished playing.
This is the first Ident I saw for the day with a capitalisim theme, you can watch the video below.
Another Ident, also a movie classification and an introduction for movies, this is well worth watching the below video, very nice presentation.
A nice immigration Ident…
Entertainment and Bravery Ident…

I’ll try, but I don’t watch enough SBS to see it, but I’ll most defiantly try.
