All New Episode’s Of Futurama…
Coming back to our screens this week are all new episode’s of Furturama on Network Ten, but be warned if you think the episode’s look a little familiar. Die hard fans of Futurama will notice that a lot of footage will look simular to that used in the straight to DVD release of Futurama: Bender’s Big Score and for very good reason, it is. The movie has been split up into four episodes for television and with another three movies they will also be split up to create another twelve episodes for future broadcast.
Episode One: Thursday 19th June…
All the regular character return for this new adventure, two years ago the Box Network cancelled Planet Express’ contract (a poke at the Fox Network who cancelled Futurama), with all those executives fired Planet Express is “back on the air”. The team then celebrate with a limbo competition where Hermes head is chopped off by a sword requiring his head to be placed in a jar while his body is fixed.
The team must make their first delivery to a planet which is devoted to being a nude beach where Leela finds a tattoo of Bender on the bottom on Fry of which he was unaware of its presence (see image below). While sunbaking on the beach three scammers approach each member of the team wanting them to sign a fake petition in an order to gain their e-mail address so that they can send them spam e-mail.
When they all return to Earth everyone starts to receive spam mail, Bender while looking up robot pornography, Dr. Zoidberg receives mail suggesting his Nigerian uncle has left him an inheritance while Leela, Amy and the Professor all get scammed into giving there credit card numbers. As a result the Professor hands the business over to the scammers and Bender is infected with an obedience virus.
It is revealed that the tattoo on Fry of Bender has a secret code and it has the power to destroy the universe which is explained by Nibbler, however the scammers ignore this and use the code to travel back into time.
Episode Two: Thursday 26th June…
In this episode the scammers find the secret to time travel, however they can only travel back in time and not forward so they use this power to send Bender back to steal as many precious objects from Earths past as possible, with Bender then waiting in a cave under the location of Planet Express until time catches up.
The scammers then decide once they have everything of value from Earths past they have no need to travel back in time anymore as it is too risky, they decide to destroy the code by killing Fry and erasing Bender’s memory. However before they can Fry uses the code and travels back to January 1st 2000 to avoid being killed with Bender being sent after him so he can be killed which has been used as a parody of the Terminator films.
Bender then spends the next twelve years trying to hunt down Fry, eventually getting him while he is inside of Panucci’s Pizza but blowing up the building.
Episode Three: Thursday 3rd July 2008…
This episode sees Bender return to the year 3000 to report that he has eliminated Fry, once reported the scammers see no need to keep the code and ease it from Bender as well as the obedience virus. It then eventuates that Fry duplicated himself and turns up to his own funeral with the duplicate being the one Bender killed, Fry then freezes himself and returns to the future where the Professor explains that the duplicate was doomed anyway just the same as Hermes body duplicate was doomed.
On Fry’s return Nibbler destroys the time travel code on Fry’s bottom removing the tattoo in order to prevent its misuse in the future. As a result of the scammers the world is living in poverty with Leela and Lars getting married Lars at the last minute gets cold feet and cancels the wedding. Hermes then loses his body once again as mentioned earlier.
Episode Four: Thursday 10th July 2008…
Earth President Richard Nixon is tricked into selling Earth to the scammers meaning that everyone has to evacuate Earth with the Planet Express team heading to Neptune. In an effort to try and re-claim Earth an attack team is assembled Star Wars style even complete with the scammers having a series of gold plated Death Star’s.
The scammers are defeated by a Doomsday device that the Professor invented of which Bender was instructed to steal while under the control of the scammers, however Bender double crossed them and stole the device for himself. Fry senses that Leela is unhappy that Lars left her and tries to get them back together, but it is revealed that Lars is actually the duplicate of Fry who was supposably killed by Bender back in 2012.
The episode ends with Bender going back in time as seen previously and sticking a tattoo on Fry’s bum while he is frozen, when he comes back he invites all the duplicate Bender’s up from the cave below Planet Express leading to the universe tearing apart, leaving the door open for the next movie.
Futurama will be on at 7:30 Thursday night’s followed by old episodes of Futurama at 8:00.
