Lipstick Jungle…
Another new series on Seven tonight with the premier of Lipstick Jungle, a show inspired by the book of the same name written by Candace Bushnell, the first season of the show was originally meant to be 13 episodes long, however because of the writers strike it was cut down to 7 episodes, however another six episodes have been commissioned to complete the initial 13. The show revolves around three women who are played by Brooke Shields (Wendy Healy), Kim Raver (Nico Reilly) and Lindsay Price (Victory Ford).
In this first episode it attempts to establish the three main characters presence starting off with Victory (is that even a name?) who is a well known New York designer and has previously had a bad fashion show, this time around she wants to prove the critics wrong and on the night appears to be happy with how well things went until the next morning when she had been slammed by the media.
Wendy is a high profile film executive and in a news report at the start of the show was seen as one of New Yorks most influential women. Wendy is married and a mother of two children and must juggle between being a mother and working in the corporate world.
Nico works at a well known magazine and is looking to climb up the corporate ladder, but her boss is reluctant to promote her. Dealing with work issues she also has to deal with issues within her own marriage and try and resist the temptation of not cheating on her husband.
The airing of Lipstick jungle could not come at a better time for Seven with the release of the Sex and the City movie and its popularity, this should appeal to people who enjoy the show and movie. However we must not forget the series Cashmere Mafia which was built as being simular also but failed to attract an audience.
Lipstick Jungle can be seen on the Seven network 9:30pm Sunday night’s.
