The Celebrity Singing Bee…

Tonight was the return of The Singing Bee on the Nine Network with a celebrity edition, but unlike last year when the show was just starting out it was hosted by American import Joey Fatone but this time Tim Campbell has stepped up to the role as host.

Last year the show screened at 6:30pm on Sunday night’s so it is a big vote of confidence for Nine to be showing it in the 8:30pm slot just before the Footy Show.

The show works exactly the same as it did in the past except for the celebrity element and the prize money of up to $50,000 will be donated to charity.

The contestants on tonight’s show include Dermott Brereton, Jo Stanley, Simon Westaway, Elka Graham, Gorgi Quill and Russel Gilbert.

Dermott Brereton was tonight’s winner in The Final Countdown segment.

I must admit I was a bit sceptical about bring back this show as it wasn’t exactly a huge hit last year and the recent failure of Million Dollar Wheel meant that Tim Campbell needed to redeem himself. However tuning in tonight the show was extremely entertaining even though I don’t really like these shows it still kept me watching and Tim Campbell as host is the perfect fit and done a fantastic job. If It Takes Two can be successful for Seven then surly this can be too as it is a far better product that even people at home can play along if they know the words to the song.

The Celebrity Singing Bee can be seen on the Nine Network 8:30pm Thursday night.
