When The Chase For The Chief Goes All Wrong…
This had disaster written all over it when last week’s edition of the AFL Footy Show launched a competition for the chance to win five double passes to attend the Grand Final Footy Show on the 25th of September at Rod Laver Arena.
All year long The Footy Show boys and in particular Sam Newman have been petitioning for Jason “The Chief” Dunstall to come on the show as a panel member. Unable to get him to come on, every week fun is made at his expense by referring to him as an ape.
In order to win the competition titled The Great Chief Chase to attend the Grand Final Footy Show, people had to find “The Chef” and have a photo taken with him. Dunstall apparently was furious at the idea and in particular with Garry Lyon and James Brayshaw, he refused to go on air with the Footy Show co-hosts to call last Friday night’s game on Triple M.
Tim Cleary the executive producer of The Footy Show said that “We’ve decided to prematurely close entries on out Great Chief Chase competition, mainly out of fear for The Chief. While it was designed to be a bit of harmless fun… it’s fair to say he hasn’t seen the funny side of this one, and after suggestions he’s had a visit at home from some overzealous types, we don’t blame him. We regret any unwelcome intrusions that may have occurred.”
The winner of the competition will be announced on tomorrow night’s Footy Show.
