A Current A-Cross-Promotion…

We all know by now that most of the stories on Today Tonight and A Current Affair are laughable, but recently while watching A Current Affair I have noticed an increase in the amount of cross-promotion going on during the show, even more than usual.

Over a three week period I attempted to record as much A Current Affair as I possibly could, with one particular week I counted at least one reference to Gordon Ramsay every night. On another night which I failed to record there was a story about a restaurant closing, but it was no ordinary restaurant, it of course appeared in the Nine Network’s new season of The Chopping Block.

Last week there was also the Scott Cam/Jamie Durie feud over Domestic Blitz only giving makeovers to people who are sick, that’s according to Durie anyway (video below) and just tonight an interview screened between Richard Wilkins with Ellen promoting that her show screens at 1pm.

Below is a short one minute video I compiled to demonstrate a little of my point, the problem with ACA doing this is that it is only getting around 1 million viewer’s a night compared to its competition which is attracting roughly 1.5 to 1.7 million. Cross promotion after cross promotion will only frustrate the limited amount of viewers left, Nine need to desperately fix its offerings between 5:30 to 7:00pm.
