Seven News: Creating Fear…

Last night Seven News had a special presentation with the strange title of Your Money: Surviving The Crash, with that title it would more likely scare more people. First of all the market has not crashed, yes it lost billions of dollars but it does not constitute a crash and people who are not as educated on these matters may take that the wrong way.

The special was hosted by David Koch who was over in New York, his co-host for the evening discussion was Seven News anchor Chris Bath. They were joined by leading financial experts to answer questions ‘ordinary’ people may have about issues ranging from interest rates to superannuation. Monique Wright was out on location in the Sydney suburb of Campbelltown to get the feel of the ‘typical Aussie’.

Michael Pascoe was one of the experts on the show who you may remember from the old Nine Network series ‘Money’ back in the days when it ran along side home ideas show ‘Our House’. This news special was rather pointless however, if people need to gain financial advice, the TV is not the place to be getting it.

Also the opinions (very short ones) were gained from the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and newly elected opposition leader Malcolm Turbull.

The only way to address any questions or concerns is to speak to professionals one on one so your circumstances can be addressed. This one off special felt like a later night edition of Sunrise with Koch involved, although he has the financial background to host such a show, the outer suburban BBQ and beers put a very strong ‘dumbing down’ image over the whole special.

Sorry not much has been happening on the site lately I have been inundated with work, however at the end of the week there will be a look at the experience of being in the audience of the Grand Final Footy Show (AFL) and also this will be very exciting, the first look at Andrew O’Keefe’s new 7HD talk show titled This Is Your Laugh, that will be up on Friday night.
