Freeview launches new advertising campaign…
Freeview, the body responsible for spruiking the benefits of free-to-air digital television in Australia tonight launched a new advertising campaign to showcase the amount of channels viewers can now watch. With the launch of ABC3 on Friday night, Freeview makes the claim that 16 channels can be viewed on digital television.
In the past Freeview has come under fire for not providing clear and concise promotions on the benefits of digital television, the organisation also claimed 15 channels would be available at launch with most of them duplicated programming.
This latest advert which can be watched below basically tells us that we will get “more for free” with Freeview and that the channels we can watch include ABC HD, ABC1, ABC2, ABC3, SBS HD, SBS ONE, SBS TWO, Seven, Seven HD, Seven TWO, Nine, Nine High-Def, GO!, Ten, One HD and One. That tongue twisting list of channels will add up to 16, but if we take into account simulcast programming on HD channels we are left with 11(12 if ABC HD offers NSW programming).
Either way this new campaign is a step in the right direction for Freeview, it lets the average Joe understand what digital TV is and what the benefit of upgrading will bring. A free mini version of Foxtel, an image Freeview is trying to present.
