G’Day, & Welcome to 7TWO…

Today the final piece of the puzzle was completed (minus ABC3) with the Seven Network launching its first digital multi-channel. At 12 noon a 60 second countdown launched 7TWO followed by the Tom Williams clip of shows to be presented on the channel and the “It’s Time” promo.

The first programme to screen on the channel was Michael Jackson’s last televised concert followed by a day of movies. Also a special Ident (see video below) was used with the Seven TV Man saying “G’Day and welcome to television.

7TWO will take on the same presentation style to that of Seven with the exception of using an orange theme. One of the let downs for the channel at this early stage is the watermark appears optimised for old style tube TV’s. Other digital only channels GO! and One HD all have the watermark right in the corner of screen making viewing easier on widescreen televisions. Even Seven digital does this also, the only main channel to do so which is a great bonus, hopefully this is extended to 7TWO soon.

You are partly correct Danny, One HD’s watermark is in the 14:9 safe-zone, but GO!’s isn’t – watching an old episode of Wipeout today & the watermark was partly inside the 4:3 safe-zone (G in 4:3 safe-zone & O! in 14:9 safe-zone)

Tom Williams?!? He’s an idiot. If he’s gonna be on this channel all the time then I’ll stick to everything else that’s on offer, including ABC3.

    Hello,
This item says final piece of the puzzle.
But in Tas the WIN HD Channel 80 has a screen message that it is redesigning content and will return.

So that makes WIN (Nine Regional Network) with Ch 8 Ch 88 (GO) and 80 will return.

Q: do you know anything about this ‘redesign/content’?

    • Danny says:

WIN does not have the capacity to run three channels at once, so untill next year they are upgrading facilities. WIN HD will just end up being a simulcast of WIN, but in HD obviously.
