Hey Hey It’s two reunion specials!
Today the Nine Network has confirmed that Australia’s favorite variety show Hey Hey It’s Saturday will return with two reunion specials.
Speculation has been on going since Daryl Somers left the Seven Networks Dancing With The Stars that a reunion special could air on Nine. Their were also reports that Somers would host a series for Nine that would look back at classic moments from the show which lasted 28 years.
Nine says that the live reunion specials will involve the old cast and will include some of the more favorite segments shown. This will be difficult as key members of the Hey Hey team Molly Meldrum and Red Symons are signed to the Seven Network.
Channel Nine’s Programme Director, Michael Healy, said today, “We are delighted to have Australia’s most popular, longest running variety show back on Nine – where it all began. Audiences are craving family viewing, and HEY HEY appealed to all age groups. It’s a show the whole family can watch together and enjoy.”
Daryl Somers said he was very excited by the task of re-launching HEY HEY. “Over the past 18 months, David Gyngell and Michael Healy have been very supportive and determined to make this project a reality – so full credit to them.”
“All the gang are really enthusiastic and can’t wait to recreate the fun we had over the 28 years of the show. There is enormous groundswell of public support for this, so it’s the right time to do this… while we are all still here!”
Their is no official word from Nine about when the specials will air, they are keeping that close to their chests for now.
