In the audience: Millionaire Whizz Kids special
On Wednesday afternoon What’s On The Tube entered the famous ‘Studio 9’ at GTV9 Melbourne for a special recording of Who Want’s To Be A Millionaire: Whizz Kids special. Eddie McGuire returned to hosting the show in its original format for the first time in a number of years where brothers and sisters teamed up from three schools for the change at winning $1 million.
Schools taking part were two sisters from Engadine High School in Sydney, brother and sister from Frankston High School in Melbourne and twin brothers from Blackburn High School also in Melbourne. The two hour special is tipped to air during the Winter Olympics with McGuire making the smart remark; somehow I’m in Vancouver and here at the same time.
McGuire heads over to Canada this Saturday for Nine’s Wide World of Sports coverage of the Winter Olympic Games where the Millionaire and Hot Seat host will present the prime time highlights package nightly. McGuire also mentioned he would miss his family being over in Canada for a good part of a month.
The tradition three lifelines returned with a twist, ‘50/50’ remained as normal while ‘phone a friend’ was changed to ‘ask the teachers’ and ‘ask the audience’ became ‘ask the school’. Scott Cam was on location at Engadine High School in Sydney where 100 or so students were on standby with a live satellite feed of the show and control pads at the ready if the two girls in studio needed help.
Shane Crawford was at Frankston High School in Melbourne where he was worried if his car would still remain in the car park and finally the bright and bubbly Charli Delaney was out at Blackburn High School.
The contestants also didn’t walk away empty handed winning Toshiba notebook computers and home entertainment packages.
McGuire also filmed some promos which include him announcing that “KAK will be back, after the Olympics”.
Who Want’s To Be A Millionaire: Whizz Kids special is expected to air shortly on the Nine Network.

It’s good as one off specials, 2 hour show is too long to maintain on a regular basis
