Mal Walden signs on for a further two years…
He is up there with some of the greatest newsreaders in the country, he certainly is one of the best going around at the present time and he is a favourite of What’s On The Tube. Ten News Melbourne co-anchor Mal Walden has signed with the network for a further two years only few hours on a Tuesday before reading another one of his infamous weather reports, this was when the link with Mike Larkin dropped out.
Walden joined the network back in 1987 meaning when this contract expires he would have been with Ten for 24 years.
Walden told the Herald Sun, “I have got to say I am enjoying it more now than I ever have before and I think it might have something to do with the freedom that they have given to me to improvise and contribute to the nightly bulletin.”
Walden is known for his views on a Sydney centric network commenting the other night when improvising the weather segment that Sydney is where all the executives seem to be these days.
He added, “I don’t have editorial control, or anything like that, but I do have an equal input and I enjoy that.”

Absolutely great news! I love Mal! When I met him, he was really nice and down to earth.
Mal’s the best there is in Melbourne, there’s no denying.
