Matthew Lloyd joins Ten’s AFL coverage…

Former Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd will join the commentary team for Network Ten/One HD’s coverage of the 2010 AFL season. Lloyd was a regular guest on One HD’s weekly AFL programme One Week At A Time and also was trailed as a special comments contributor during the 2009 AFL season.

Executive Producer of AFL David Barham said, “He is opinionated, direct and not afraid to call it as he sees it and we think he will prove to be an outstanding expert commentator. We are delighted he will be joining us.”

On his appointment to the commentary team Lloyd said, “For the past two to three years I have been thinking about what I wanted to do when I finished playing and I’m really excited to now be able to share my thoughts and opinions on the game with the fans on a regular basis.”

“I won’t be passing comment in order to make headlines but I’m not afraid to express my views on the game and give some inside knowledge to those who love watching it. I enjoyed working with Network Ten this year on One Week At A Time on One HD and also during some of their AFL coverage so I am really looking forward to extending my involvement with them,” he said.

Also joining Lloyd in an increased capacity will be Ten News reporter Kelli Underwood who made history as the first female AFL commentator. She will be taking the place of Michael Christian, he will concentrate on his up and coming role calling the weightlifting for Ten’s coverage of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
