Nine News Special: Remembering Black Saturday

This Saturday’s edition of Nine News Melbourne will be a special one hour presentation live from Kinglake as we mark one year since Australia was hit by its worst natural disaster in history. The programme will feature never before seen footage, provided exclusively to Nine News on the eve of the February 7 anniversary.

Of the 173 lives lost, Brian Naylor, the face of Nine News for so many years, and his wife Moiree, were among them and on Saturday night, his family break their silence for the very first time.

In a series of compelling interviews, Tony Jones, long-time friend and colleague of Naylor, speaks to the children and grandchildren of the legendary news anchor.

The program will also feature extraordinary footage of the harrowing experience endured by a family and its neighbour. This previously unseen footage provides a gripping, first-hand account of what it’s like to live through a bushfire as embers rain down all around.

New footage has also surfaced of a CFA tanker and its crew trapped by fire. Nine News has their remarkable tale of survival.

But this is also a story of hope. Nine News reporters will be on the ground at locations throughout the affected areas, presenting uplifting accounts of communities bouncing back in the face of impossible sorrow and hardship.

Nine News Black Saturday special, 6:00pm on the Nine Network in Victoria.

Great to see Nine picking up their quality, especially given it’ll be Saturday…. I’ll definitely be tuning in. Nine’s coverage during the bushfires was surprising & unrivalled, and I will be sticking with them. Good to see some good quality journalism still in the ranks.

Will it be hosted both by Jo Hall and Peter Hitchener?

    • Danny says:

Peter Hitchener will present from Kinglake, Jo Hall I presume will also present, she might from the studio but more than likely on location also.
