Seven’s new digital channel called… MATE?

Revealed in a MediaSpy forum thread and now you can see it here on What’s On The Tube first, could this be the name of Seven’s new digital channel? IP Australia the Australian Trade Mark register has a number of logos submitted by the Seven Network under the title “Channel Mate” and “Mate”…
All of the logos below were registered by Seven on October 13, and today the network appointed Lisa Squillace as Channel Sales Operations Manager. This is an indication that November 22 could be the launch date for the new channel.
So what do you think of MATE…? Certainly a name no-one would of expected.

Yes, yes we did, however I’m gonna be cheeky and say that MediaSpy is a forum and this is a website, but I have made the correction…
Yuck, That is terrible. Channel Mate. Sounds like direct competition with GO. Seven or Mate are going to have to come up with some bloody good content if they want to beat GO.
I really doubt 7 would use any of these. They look very cheap, and aren’t very professional at all. Plus “Tonight on Mate” or “Tuesday Night on Mate” doesn’t work at all. Nah, 7 have better creativity than that. If they were gonna go all ocker on us, I’m sure they’d call the channel G’Day, or BBQ.
Actually I wouldn’t mind a channel called BBQ, that way you could market it as “The Barby” and promote things with “Such-and-such Night on the Barby,” “Throw another comedy on The Barby” etc
Then they could get Paul Hogan to be the face of the channel… “Throw another shrip on the barbie”
cutting a fine line there danny lol, i guess 7 and 9 have done enough shady claims in relation to exclusivity, so we’ll let this one fly through to the keeper too.
