Seven announces its new channel – 7TWO…
Today the Seven Network revealed the channel we have all be waiting for, 7TWO will launch Sunday, November 1 at 12noon on Channel 72.
Channel Seven’s Director of Programming and Production Tim Worner said, “I am pleased to announce that 7TWO will be the new home for premiere episodes of our international hits including J.J Abrams’ Lost, Ugly Betty, Heroes and 24. We’ve been strategic in putting together a program schedule for 7TWO that allows us to grow our audience between our two channels, without sacrificing one for the other. It is a complementary relationship that will go from strength to strength maximising the opportunities for our audience and clients.”
The Jay Leno Show will screen on 7TWO five nights a week along with old hits, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under and Murphy Brown. 7TWO will also feature British television from A Touch of Frost, Prime Suspect, Judge John Deed, Rosemary & Thyme and Minder to premiere episodes of motoring hit Fifth Gear, Heartbeat, Holby Blue, Benidorm, Gavin & Stacey and Britain’s Best Dish.
7TWO will boast themed nights of programming include Action & Adventure, Lifestyle and Movies with the latter featuring an extensive catalogue of family titles from Disney’s studios. Cooking programs from the world’s top chefs including Jamie Oliver, Curtis Stone, Rick Stein, Ainsley Harriott and Gary Rhodes will also feature on Monday to Friday afternoons.
The channels day time schedule will include programming titles Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Shortland Street, The Martha Stewart Show, Home and Away: The Early Years, Sons and Daughters, Magnum PI and Moonlighting.
Tow Williams will be the face of 7TWO, Williams has reported for The Great Outdoors, the Torino and Beijing Olympics and co-hosted Gladiators. In 2005, he was crowned Series 2 champion of Dancing with the Stars.
Williams says, “7TWO will have something for everyone catering to a range of TV tastes from the weekend rev-head to the aspiring chef. What I love about 7TWO is the great mix of the new and classic. I’m a big Leno fan so it will be great to be able catch that on a daily basis. And I can’t wait to see how the last season of Lost unravels.”
He went on to say “It’s fair to say I’ll be booking in some extra time on the couch. I can’t wait for it all to kick off.”

Any word in Prime launching as well??
Nope, not yet.
Prime are not launching it until they can get channel 7 to rebadge. They are unhappy about the channel name and cannot rebadge it. I think its time Prime got a hold of the fact that Australians do not care about channel names.
Wow. What an original name! I’ll be sticking with GO!.
i think it wouldve been better if they thought of a name other than ‘7two’…not very imaginative
Once again regional Australia misses out because the”suits” can’t agree on a name.Hmmmmff.I don’t live in an isolated area with no signal I’m in Coffs Harbour. So when “SUNRISE” were bragging that 7TWO was about to launch we all thought great more choice, but sadly again we were lead up the garden path and then pushed off.Get your act together because without viewers you are nothing. So if your not having 7TWO in regional areas don’t let shows like sunrise say that its now available when clearly its not.So now there are 2 channels that don’t keep their word you are just as bad as GO!.
I went to the yahoo.com.au/heroes message board and I guess I’m not the only one dissapointed with chanel 7 and prime. If you can’t get 7two well bad luck if you like lost and have watched it through to the last season or if you like heroes, well heroes have started already.I don’t live in remote Australia where you get nothing.Just get your act together and give the rest of us the same choices the people in the big smoke get.Channel 9 and NBN don’t have any problems with GO! so why can’t you!
I was upset that channel digital 7TWO got problem with closed captions. “Home and Away: the Early Years” that not normal closed caption (CC) that captions made in the 1988. And all rest closed captions was problem some miss letter, missed the captions, some captions didn’t come in for a seconds. I thinks that 7TWO was soft SD digital.
Channel 7TWO please, repair the closed captions. Not happy with it and all deafes people not feel happy with it.
7TWO will check the problems.
When are the rest of us going to get to see HEROES I heard that 7two (original name by the way)was already showing it.So how come prime viewers miss out, isn’t prime and 7 the same?
Yay! Hip Hip Hooray Prime finally can kee up.7Two is now on.Finally we might get to see the last episodes of the season of Heroes.
