TV’s Best of the Best, as Nine looks back at the era it was a successful network…
What do you get when you mix fancy lighting, Bold and the Beautiful style camera work, precisely timed head movements and walk-ins with a stable of Nine Network stars? The answer to that question is a show looking back at some of Australia’s top television moments which have been already looked at in extensive length in other TV specials but without the title of 20 to 01 or a 50 years of TV special.
A special show aired on the Nine Network on Sunday night titled TV’s Best of the Best hosted by Lisa Wilkinson and Karl Stefanovic. Also joining them as presenters along the way were Vince Colosimo, Lisa McCune, Jules Lund, Shelly Craft, Tara Brown, Peter Overton, Eddie McGuire and Natalie Gruzlewski.
The show looked back at all the people and shows which have been institutions of Australian television including shows not shown on the Nine Network. Of course it wouldn’t be a true look back down memory lane if shows and personalities were not featured that may possibly making a return to television… On Nine…
Although now working for Seven but making an appearance on the two Hey Hey It’s Saturday reunion specials, Molly Meldrum was a feature along with Hey Hey host Daryl Somers, then to flog it to death some more the show Hey Hey was featured as well.
Adding to this was Paul Hogan and The Paul Hogan Show which incidentally will be featured in another special on Nine Tuesday night, “The Very Best of the Paul Hogan Show”.
Last night the show only managed to draw in a crowd of 913,000 which would indicate the country is getting tired of these nostalgia trips which were covered in great detail back in 2006 with the 50th anniversary of television in Australia. Nine would want to hope that the Hey Hey specials can do A LOT better than that.

I preferred the homegrown fiftieth specials QTQ aired in August.
I hope to high hell, Nine is not intending to dump the Nine For Queensland campaign in a weeks time.
If they do… Nine's issues in Brisbane will no longer be confined to 5:30 at night.
